Fears for Durham beauty spot
VILLAGERS say vandals are wrecking a much-loved nature reserve.
People riding motorbikes and quad bikes inconsiderately have caused damage to Littlewood nature reserve, near Quarrington Hill, Durham City.
The police met local countryside campaigners at the site to see the problem for themselves on Saturday (October 5).
Volunteer ranger Billy Jones said the reserve was a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), popular with residents and children at Cassop Primary School and attracted lots of visitors.
Mr Jones said the issue would be discussed at a future Police and Communities Together (Pact) meeting and urged anyone who knew who had caused the damage to call the police.
To contact Durham Police, call 101.
