North-East Mormons gather for global conference
6:53pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
HUNDREDS of Mormons from throughout the North-East gathered together for a World Wide Conference.
During 10 hours of instruction, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormons, were taught about putting their faith into action by serving others, as well as dealing with the conflicts between faith and doubt; and feeling compassion for those in need.
Thomas Monson, prophet and president of the Mormons also announced that membership had reached 15 million for the first time.
The conference was translated into 92 different languages to allow members all over the world to listen simultaneously.
Church leader Mark Stewart, of Middleton Tyas in North Yorkshire, said it had been a wonderful day.
“It is exciting to hear the inspired and inspiring words of our leaders through the miracle of modern technology,” he added.
