Electoral registration forms being sent out in Darlington
Darlington households can expect their annual canvass forms to be delivered over the coming weeks and residents are being urged not to lose their right to vote.
Darlington Council is now sending out the forms in order to compile the new electoral register and electoral registration officer Catherine Whitehead stressed its importance.
She said: “Residents will not be able to vote in elections if they don’t register to vote.
“The electoral register is also increasingly being used to confirm an individual’s address, especially if they are applying for credit such as a mortgage, personal loan or even a mobile telephone.
“If you are not registered you will probably be refused credit, as well as losing your right to vote.”
The completion of the form is a legal requirement and more information about the process is available on 01325-388351.
