New disabled facilities opened at Spennymoor, Stanley and Newton Aycliffe leisure centres

DISABLED toilets equipped with specialist equipment have been fitted at three County Durham leisure centres.
They have been designed for people with profound disabilities and impairments.
The cubicles are bigger than normal disabled toilets and they include a height-adjustable changing bench and hoist as well as a modesty screen.
Phil Emberson, the council’s operations manager in adult services, said: “People with serious or profound conditions often need extra facilities to allow them to use toilets comfortably.
“These new facilities should help improve quality of life for people who want to use our leisure facilities but need help in doing so.”
