How would you save £45m?
RESIDENTS of Gateshead are being asked for their views on how to plug the council’s £45m funding gap. The money must be saved over two years, between 2014 and 2016. Cuts of £75m have already been made since 2010. Consultation runs from October 15 to December 17.

ENERGY QUESTION: Durham City Labour MP Roberta Blackman-Woods quizzed David Cameron on energy costs during Prime Minister’s Questions today (Wednesday, October 10). Mr Cameron said Labour’s promise to freeze energy bills until 2017 was not “proper politics”. Dr Blackman-Woods said the Government had failed to take real action to help people with their energy bills.
