Durham County Council offering free tests of small electrical items
FREE electrical safety checks are being offered to residents in County Durham.
Durham County Council and Age UK are offering to test small electrical appliances like kettles, irons and electric blanket.
The sessions are taking place from 10am and 12.30pm at Sedgefield Library, October 17; Chilton Library, October 24; Healthworks, Easington Colliery, October 25; Bishop Auckland Library, October 31; Trimdon Library, November 7.
Joanne Waller, the council’s head of environment, health and consumer protection, said: "At previous events we have found items that have had frayed cables or which have been incorrectly wired or fused.
“By offering this service we are helping people to ensure that their appliances are fit and safe to use.”
