Police are appealing for information after the burglary at the Mediterranean Kitchen, off Hallgarth Street in Sherburn Village, on Saturday.
The owner discovered the premises had been broken into and a large amount of stock as well as a work laptop computer had been stolen, estimated to be worth a total of just under £1,500.
The burglary took place at some point between midnight and 3.30pm. Police say they are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who saw or heard a vehicle leaving the area around 4am.
Among the haul were several boxes of Prima cheese; 10 boxes of frozen chips, boxes of pitta bread, burger buns and tortillas; soft drink 'slabs' of Coca-Cola, Fanta, Dr Pepper, Sprite and Diet Coke and a Dell laptop.
