Shildon youngsters given Children in Need money to appear on TV
YOUNGSTERS using a youth club which gained Children in Need funding are to feature on the TV charity marathon.
The Jubilee Fields Community Centre Youth Club, Shildon, was given £75,000 by Children in Need last year to cover the cost of staffing for 2012-15.
The club attracts 40 children aged between five and 13-years to sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
BBC Look North presenter Hannah Bayman visited the Jubilee Road centre recently to view how the money was spent.
Barbara Fuller, the centre’s development worker, said: “She called in to see what activities we do at the club and to view who came along to use it.
“The funding covered the costs of four staff for the club for three years. We would not have been able to fund the club otherwise and it would have shut.”
The Jubilee Fields centre will feature on the Children in Need programme which is to be aired on Friday, November 16.
Details on the youth club can be obtained from 01388-775425 or visit jubileefieldscentre.co.uk/index.
