Judith Clancy at Durham Flower Club
DURHAM Flower Club will host demonstrator Judith Clancy, co-designer of the recent Jewels of the North festival at Durham Cathedral, at its meeting in Sherburn Village community hall, Front Street, Sherburn Village, near Durham, on Thursday, November 7, at 2pm. Entry costs £5 including refreshments. There will be a tombola and raffle. Tickets will be available on the door. There will be no meeting in December as members will be having a Christmas lunch at Bowburn Hall Hotel. Tickets will be available at November’s meeting.
COFFEE MORNING: Charity Veterans at Ease will hold a coffee morning at Alington House community centre, 4 North Bailey, Durham City, on Wednesday, October 23, from 10am to noon. A specially commissioned film titled Hidden Battles will be screened, exploring issues faced by veterans and their families suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. GUIDED WALK: East Durham College’s Houghall campus, near Durham, will host a guided autumn walk through its arboretum on Saturday, October 20, starting in the main car park at 2pm. The walk will last about an hour and be led by horticulture lecturer Mike Hirst. The cost is £3 for adults, free for children.
WEDNESDAY WALK: Durham Ramblers will do a Wednesday walk on October 23. It will be an easy 5.5-mile route around Tudhoe and Sunderland Bridge starting from the middle of the old bridge near Sunderland Bridge at 10.30am.
