Barnard Castle Prep School's French themed tea party raises £360 for Epilepsy in Action

PUPILS at a County Durham prep school raised £360 at an annual fundraising tea party.
Barnard Castle Prep School has hosted the event in aid of Epilepsy in Action ever since former pupil Lewis Thirling was diagnosed with the condition.
Although Lewis left senior school four years ago, the fundraising continues and this year's tea party was given a French theme.
French teacher Clare Bale said the idea was to encourage the children to order their tea and cake in French as good practice for the year 5 and 6 trip to Parish next March.
“It helps to give the children confidence, knowing what they have learnt in class they can use in real life situations,” she said.
Michael White, fundraising events officer for Epilepsy in Action, said: “We’re very grateful to the staff, students and friends of Barnard Castle Prep School.
“There are over 25,000 people with epilepsy across the North-East and around one in 10 of them will be a child.
“The money everyone at Barnard Castle has helped to raise over the past 10 years makes a huge difference to the lives of people with epilepsy.”
