Choir mark end of anniversary celebrations for twin town project in Darlington
A CHOIR from Darlington’s twin town will mark the end of anniversary celebrations with a performance on Friday (October 25).
Darlington’s 60th anniversary celebrations of the Town Twinning initiative will end on a high note when the Charisma choir, from Mulheim an der Ruhr, perform at the town’s Dolphin Centre.
Darlington was twinned with the German town – and with Amiens, in France – in 1953. Since then, more than 50,000 people have made twinning visits.
The 60th anniversary celebrations of the project have seen the towns work together to engage their citizens in a number of twinning related activities, including sporting, trade and educational visits.
The mayors of the three towns appeared together at the 150th anniversary of Darlington’s Indoor Market in the summer.
Tickets for the performance by Charisma cost £6 and are available from Councillor Tom Nutt, chair of Darlington’s Town Twinning Association. To book, call 01325-360953.
The performance will begin at 7.30pm. The choir will also perform at Durham Cathedral tomorrow (Tuesday, October 22) from 1.15pm until 2pm.
