The Post Office announces plans to relocate branch and extend opening hours in Newton Aycliffe town centre
A CONSULTATION is underway after the Post Office revealed plans to move and extend opening hours at a town centre branch.
The proposed relocation would see Newton Aycliffe Post Office move from its currently location at Beveridge Arcade to Beveridge Way, some 25 metres away.
The new “main-style” branch would be open-plan with significantly extended opening times of 71 hours per week.
There would be five serving positions – a mixture of two screened and two open-plan counters, as well as a Post Office service point at the retail counter.
Proposed opening hours would be 6.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 6.30am to noon on Sunday.
The move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business.
Post Office regional network manager for Scotland and Northern England Suzanne Richardson said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Newton Aycliffe and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
Customers are invited to comment on the proposal before December 3.
