Breakfast gives Prince's Trust volunteers a boost
PRINCE’S Trust volunteers are getting their day off to a good start thanks to a new breakfast club.
Peter Ahmed wanted to improve the concentration of his 16-strong team of young adults so appealed to businesses for help.
Wilkinsons, Tesco and Morrisons all offered items, including a toaster, kettles, microwave and crockery to enable the idea to get off the ground.
“Breakfast is really important,” said Mr Ahmed. “I believe it sets people up well for the day. Some of the students were reluctant to get involved at first but now it is proving popular.”
The Prince's Trust programme has been run by Stockton Riverside College, at The Lightfoot Institute, Bishop Auckland, for the past 12 years, and aims to give jobless youngsters skills and experiences to help them find work.
• Thieves broke into to the office belonging to the Prince’s Trust at The Lightfoot Institute sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning and stole £230. Witnesses are asked to call Durham Police on 101
