SCOUT groups across North Yorkshire have helped raise £1,550 by staging a ten hour trek.
About 51 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and other volunteers took part in some, or all, of the recent hike along 27km of the Coast to Coast route, as part of the scouting movement’s C3 Challenge Week.
Three Scout leaders and one young leader from the 1st Brompton-on-Swale Scout Group started the No Sleep Til Kiplin walk from Marrick in North Yorkshire. They were joined by youngsters along the way and marched together into Kiplin Hall.
Paul Hankin from 1st Brompton-on-Swale Scout group, said: “The support and encouragement that we have received from the local community, family, friends, work colleagues has been more than we ever could have wished for.
“The young people acquitted themselves very well on what was a challenging walk for each age section and the leaders are proud of each and every one of them.”
Regional businesses, Tolent Construction, Procomm Site Services, Advanced Vehicle Leasing, and other companies, including Air Products and Foster Wheeler pledged a total of £1,550 in support.
The money should enable the group to go on summer camp next year and fund other activities.
