Artists to take over Spennymoor shop each Saturday to showcase their work
1:22pm Monday 28th October 2013 in News
ARTISTS are taking over a shop each weekend to sell their wares and to allow shoppers to see them at work.
Number 15, on Festival Walk, Spennymoor, has been used by artists to create, display and sell their goods for the last 18-months.
The scheme is run by Creative Communities and a different artist will be there every Saturday until Christmas.
Susan Dowling was the first artist to run Number 15 when she ran Suedo Design there on Saturday, October 26.
She sold a range of cross stitch decorations and tie dye clothing plus comics and puzzles.
Miss Dowling said: “I’ve sold items online but I’ve never run a shop before.
“It’s great to have the extra space to be able to show off my stock. It was good that people could come in and see what I was doing.”
The shop will be open between 10am and 4pm.
