Autumn arrives at arboretum
5:12pm Monday 28th October 2013 in News
AUTUMN has finally arrived at Thorp Perrow Arboretum near Bedale three weeks later than usual.
Experts at the arboretum, which has one of Britain’s largest private collections of trees say the warm weather has delayed the season but the spectacular rich reds and golds are now starting to show through.
To mark the change a series of autumn events is being held with a half term Halloween Trail and spooky activities from 11am to 4pm most days. Further Details www.thorpperrow.com phone 01677-425323.
COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning held at the home of Elizabeth Shade at Thornton Steward, near Bedale raised £550 for the new scanner appeal at the Friarage Hospital at Northallerton. Mrs Shade said she was amazed they had raised so much and thanked friends and residents who donated cakes and raffle prizes for the event.
