BRAVE male fundraisers are to endure leg and chest waxing to raise money for the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity.
James Manners, a supervisor at McColls newsagents, in West Auckland, is to have his legs waxed at the shop tonight. (Monday, October 28)
Gordon Mulgrew, the shop’s branch manager, is to grit his teeth for a leg wax and Dot Hart, the shop’s deputy manager, is to have her head shaved.
Mr Manners said: “We wanted to do something for charity and someone mentioned having our legs waxed and it went from there.
“McColls want to raise £100,000 over this year for charity and we want to raise £1,000 through our efforts.
“I’m looking forward to it as it’s something different. I just hope I don’t cry.”
Sponsorship forms are on offer in the shop, on Front Street, and over the next week raffles are to be held to help boost the total raised.
Cardiac Risk in the Young seeks to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac death.
