Beauty evening to help raise funds for Kenyan school
4:33pm Tuesday 29th October 2013 in News
A HAIR and fashion evening is taking place to raise money for a village school in Kenya.
It is hoped the event will help the Under the Mango Tree fund reach its £6,000 target to build another classroom and equip the Kambe Timboni School.
The school was started in 2000 with a small group of children who gathered under the tree to learn. In 2001 a simple shelter was built with a donation from a UK church. But it is hoped the fundraising target will enable all local children to attend the school.
On Wednesday, November 13 a beauty evening will take place in the Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton, at 7pm.
It will be presented by Watkins Wright hairdressers of Thirsk and Esprit clothing, with staff from the Northallerton branch.
There will be a raffle with prizes such as a half-day beauty package, hair colour, cut and finish and clothing vouchers. All participants will receive a goody bag.
Tickets are available from Watkins Wright Salons, Esprit or Iris Smith on 01609-774060.
