Supernatural group keep spirit of Halloween alive in Darlington
THE SPIRIT of Halloween is being kept alive in Darlington.
A ghoulish group devoted to exploring everything spooky and supernatural has compiled a list of the most haunted places in the town based on members’ experiences.
The list – put together by the Supernatural Darlington Facebook group – says ghost hunters could spot the elusive Lady in Red if they go down to the North Road or Thompson Street entrance to North Road Cemetery after dark.
The ghost of a Victorian lady is said to haunt South Park, with one member saying: “I was passing South Park at about 5am in a car with three other people when a woman dressed in a Victorian dress, hat and umbrella started to cross the road.
“We all looked and watched her walk into the park straight through the railings of the fence.”
A monk has been seen to vanish from the steps of St Cuthbert’s Church whilst a man and his horse and cart have been sighted disappearing through the back wall of the Quaker Cemetery.
