Darlington Borough Council will use social media to post winter maintenance updates
COUNCIL chiefs will be using social media to let members of the public know when roads are being gritted this winter.
Members of Darlington Borough Council staff will use Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to publish messages alerting people when the roads will be treated.
Messages will go out at all times of the day and night.
Councillor David Lyonette, cabinet member for transport, said: “We started putting out messages on social media in January this year, and continued to post until the roads no longer needed gritting.
“The messages proved incredibly popular with the public and resulted in a lot of praise for not only for the information going out on social media, but the winter gritting service in general.
“I would urge all Darlington residents to sign up for this valuable service.”
