Durham County Council to stage adoption event
AN information evening about adoption is being held by Durham County Council.
It takes place at Durham County Cricket Club, Chester-le-Street, on Thursday November 21 from 6 to 8pm.
Jessica Cowan, the council’s adoption team manager, said: “With such a large number of children waiting for adoption it would be great if we could make progress on finding families for them all.
“Families come in all shapes and sizes and adoptive families are no different. Many people believe that they cannot adopt if they already have children, but this is not the case. There are many adoptive families who already have children and have adopted a child.
"We offer advice and support to your family, including your children.
“If you have thought about adoption, don’t rule yourself out. Come along for a general discussion and take your time to think it through. If you decide to progress further with adoption we will support you and your family along the way”
Anyone interested in adoption is asked to call Durham County Council’s adoption service on 03000 269 400 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
