A PRIMARY school has celebrated its 20th anniversary by helping children imagine where they will be 20 years from now.
South Otterington CE Primary School, near Northallerton, first opened in September 1993, after it was built to replace two small Victorian schools, Newby Wiske County Primary and Thornton-le-Moors CE Primary, which had been there for more than 130 years.
As part of their 20th anniversary celebrations the children had a party where they looked at the differences between their current school and the former primaries. They also divided a celebratory chocolate cake between each of the school’s 111 pupils.
South Otterington primary is continuing to mark the occasion and recently children dressed up in outfits and uniforms for jobs they hope to be doing in 20 years’ time.
Headteacher Kate Williamson said: “Children dressed up as what they would like to be in 20 years’ time. It will be great to look back in 20 years and see if any of them followed their childhood dreams.”
