Trek to Machu Picchu for St Cuthbert's Hospice
A HOSPICE is looking for people to take part in the trek of a lifetime.
St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham City, is running a fundraising trek along the ancient Inca trail to Machu Picchu, in Peru.
Organised with photographer Alan Clarke, it will take place from May 21 to 31, 2015.
Participants will walk for up to eight hours a day for four days, climbing to 4,200m above sea level.
It is hoped the event will raise up to £100,000 for the hospice.
Mr Clarke said: “I’ve supported the hospice for a number of years now as a photographer and I wanted to organise something that meant I could give even more back to such a vital local service.
“I thought the Inca trek would be a great challenge for anyone who wants to test themselves and raise a lot of money while doing it.
“With a team of 25 on board we could raise nearly £100,000 for St Cuthbert’s.”
Registration costs £300 and participants must raise at least £3,800 in sponsorship.
Flights, meals and camping accommodation will be included.
More information will be available during an open evening at the hospice on Tuesday, November 12, from 6pm to 8pm.
