Chilton man fined for drunken scrap in the street
A MAN who became embroiled in a drunken scrap with his friends after a night at the pub has appeared before magistrates.
Police were called to Durham Road in Chilton shortly before midnight on September 26 following reports of a group of people fighting in the street.
Daniel Smith, who was among the group, fled the scene, but was later caught fighting with another man in a nearby street and was arrested.
The 21-year-old, of Eden Terrace, Chilton, pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive words and behaviour at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, November 5).
Smith, who was unrepresented, said: “I was out with my friends and we ended up getting drunk and arguing and then we all started fighting. We are all still friends now and are still talking to each other.
“That’s all I can say really.”
Magistrates ordered him to pay a total of £265 in fines and court charges.
