Catterick Race day raises funds for military charities
Over £3,500 has been raised for two military charities at a special race day at Catterick.
The event, in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and SSAFA, was hosted by Catterick Racecourse, with money raised matched by Barclays Bank.
The two charities work hand in hand to ensure soldiers, former soldiers and their families who are in need get the help they deserve.
The race day, held primarily for families of 4 Brigade returning from Afghanistan, was a huge success.
Regional Director for ABF, Major Barney Barnbrook, said: “The continued support of both Catterick Racecourse and Barclays Bank has proved invaluable in our efforts to raise much-needed funds. This was a remarkable achievement. It demonstrates how the two charities work closely together to help the Army family.”
Planning for next year’s event is already well underway, it’s being held on Wednesday July 16 and the soldiers charity is seeking corporate sponsorship for the seven races. It’s being combined with a charity bungee jump, family attractions and freefall parachute displays, for more information ring 01748 874127.
