A COMMUNITY day will offer everything from health checks to Christmas lights testing this week.

Durham County Council’s community action team are holding a drop-in session at Trimdon Station Community Centre from 1pm to 4pm on Wednesday, December 4.

The team has been in Trimdon Station and Deaf Hill since the beginning of November and has focused on a range of community issues, including fly-tipping, empty properties, noise problems, cold callers and underage alcohol and tobacco sales.

The drop-in session will offer advice on drugs and alcohol, as well as free mini health checks.

There will also be tips on how to reduce energy bills and portable appliance testing to ensure electrical items, such as Christmas lights, are safe to use.

A further drop-in session will take place at the same venue from 3pm to 6pm on Thursday, December 12.
