YEAR five students from Belmont Cheveley Park Primary School took part in computer programming workshops at Belmont Community School as part of a Transition Activities day. With help from year nine pupils, they created and animated characters on screen.

SHOPPERS’ SERVICE: The next shoppers’ service at St Andrew’s Methodist Church, in Coxhoe, near Durham, will be held on Saturday (December 7) from 10am to 10.30am. The guest speaker will be Rev Susan Richardson.

CANCER SUPPORT: Durham and District Women’s Cancer Support Group will meet on Monday (December 9) in the education department common room at the University Hospital of North Durham, Durham City, at 7pm.

CAFE CAROLS: St John’s Church, in Neville’s Cross, Durham, will hold a Community Cafe with Carols on Wednesday, December 11, from 9am to 11am. There will be tea, coffee, mince pies and the chance to sing some carols.

SANTA PAWS: Pets at Home, at the Arnison Centre, Pity Me, Durham, is running a Santa Paws appeal to collect gifts and donations for abandoned animals. The appeal will run until Christmas Eve. Shoppers are invited to donate a gift or make a donation.
