PLACES are still available at a fun-filled Christmas Day lunch aimed at bringing people together during the festive season.

Lifeline Community Action, a Christian charity that helps people in crisis the Newton Aycliffe area of County Durham, is organising the dinner to ensure no-one is lonely this Christmas.

The dinner, which is part of the charity's Helping Hands project, will be held from 10am to 4pm on Christmas Day, at the Bethany Centre, on Woodham Way.

Guests can look forward to gifts, carols, games, canapés and a delicious four-course meal.

Alwyn White, of Lifeline Community Action, said: “We still have about 20 places and we want to fill them.

“We really don’t want a single empty seat because we know every place has the potential of bringing some joy into someone’s life.

“There are many people that would rather not be alone and most don’t want to ring in case there is someone worse off than them. If that is you, then we’re asking you to get in touch now.

“We are determined that this is going to be one of the best celebrations that Helping Hands have organised so far.”

Individuals and families who would like to attend should call the team on 07936431262 or email
