BISHOP Auckland Civic Society’s annual town quiz, held at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, raised a total of £850 for Innovations, a charity based in the town that supports people to achieve their dreams. The winning team, Blockie’s Boys, kindly donated their prize money to the charity. The society would like to thank everyone who donated raffle prizes, the quiz master, Glynn Wales, and all 35 teams that took part.

COMMUNITY ACTION: Durham County Council's community action team will be offering free consumer, health, energy efficiency and recycling advice, as well as portable appliance testing at Trimdon Station Community Station from 3pm to 6pm on Thursday, December 12.

CHARITY NIGHT: The Mayor of Chilton, Councillor Elizabeth Bruce and her consort Councillor, Alan Bruce, would like to thank everyone who supported their charity night and coffee morning at Chilton Workingmen’s Club, which raised £375 for the NSPCC and local causes.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: A Christmas craft fair and family fun day will take place at Spennymoor Town Hall from 11am on Saturday, December 14, to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Besides a variety of craft stalls, there will be a bouncy castle, face painter, balloon artist, raffle, tarrot card reading and a visit from Father Christmas.

LIGHT THEFT: Between 4pm on Wednesday, December 4, and 1.30pm the following day a portable floodlight and generator system was stolen from Sedgefield Cricket Club at Station Road in Station.
