ST Mary’s Church, in West Rainton, will hold a Christmas Tree Festival on Saturday and Sunday (December 14-15). Visitors are welcome between 3pm and 6pm each day. There will be tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies. Visitors can also vote for their favourite tree and the winner will be announced at the village carol service, to be held on Monday at 6.30pm.

VOX CONCERT: North Road Methodist Church, North Road, Durham, will host a concert by Vox, a children’s choir conducted by Mish Kelly, on Saturday (December 14) at 2.30pm. The programme will include carols old and new. There will be a collection for St Cuthbert’s Hospice and Medical Aid for Palestinians.

DINE & DONATE: People dining at The Garden House, on North Road, Durham, or Cafe Capriccio, on Elvet Bridge, during December can add a voluntary £1 donation to their bill which will go straight to the NSPCC.

SILVER BELLES: The Active Life Centre in Coxhoe will host a Christmas Afternoon Concert by The Silver Belles on Wednesday (December 18) at 2pm. The concert is titled: Musical Memories and a Christmas Carol Singalong. Tickets, priced £4, can be booked by calling 0191-377-1789.

WARRIOR SPORTS: Liverpool FC kit sponsor Warrior Sports is opening a new sports store at Dalton Park, near Murton, on Saturday (December 14). Three new jobs have been created.
