THREE members from the cast of BBC sitcom Hebburn took to the stage for the final comedy show in Barnard Castle this year.

However, Hebburn creator Jason Cook, who was due to host the Funny Way To Be Comedy Club event, had to pull out due to illness.

Funny Way To Be's Peter Dixon said this did not detract from an excellent show in front of a sell-out audience.

“Unfortunately, Jason was poorly and not able to make it, but his friends pulled together and produced a fantastic evening of comedy.”

Fans of Hebburn, welcomed the sitcom's Steffen Peddie (Big Keith), Seymour Mace (the studio owner) and Neil Grainger (Gervaise).

Headlining the evening was Rob Rouse, who will be touring in early 2014 and is a familiar face on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Celebrity Juice and Dave's One Night Stand.

Andy Fury and comic songstress Natalie Wicks completed the line-up.

“At the end, Steffen, Rob, Andy and Neil got on stage together and answered questions and the show closed with a singalong as the audience joined in with Feed the World.

“It was great fun and a unique evening,” said Mr Dixon.

The Funny Way To Be's 2014 season begins on Saturday, February 8, with a comedy club night hosted by another Hebburn actor, Alfie Joey.

He will be joined by Andrew O'Neill, Tommy Rowson and Paul F Taylor at The Witham, Barnard Castle.
