SANTAS of all ages turned out in force to support a charity’s first Santa Fun Run.

A total of 122 people completed a 5km course around the parkland at Thorp Perrow near Bedale to raise funds for Herriot Hospice Homecare, which provides care and support for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Thorp Perrow’s head falconer, Tom Graham, got the event underway with the help- of his European eagle owl Spooky.

And all competitors were provided with a Santa suit to run in - and then received a certificate and mince pie on completion of the course.

Barclays Bank employee Tina Watson assisted with promoting the event and also secured support under which the bank will match the funds raised at the event.

Organiser Sarah Adamson said: “There was a great Christmas atmosphere and all runners supported each other.”

Sponsorship money is still coming in, but the charity is hoping to raise around £3,000.
