SHOPPERS and staff at a Darlington supermarket have collected hundreds of food items for a food bank charity.
Two trolleys full of items were collected at the town’s Sainsbury’s store on Tuesday (December 17).
They have been delivered to the Food Store network, based at King’s Church, in Whessoe Road.
Sainsbury’s is a member of Darlington Cares, which encourages employers in the town to embrace corporate social responsibility.
Last week, three boxes of food items collected from Cares members based at Lingfield Point were also donated to the charity.
The tins, cans and packets will be distributed among some of the neediest families in the borough this Christmas.
