THE Wensleydale School recorded a clean sweep at the recent Hambleton and Richmondshire schools badminton tournament.
A total of 32 players from the Leyburn school contested the U14 boys and girls and U16 boys and girls tournaments, winning every age group.
The competition, held at Richmond School, was a qualifier to represent the area in the regional play-offs to be held in the New Year - the same competition that the team won last year to reach the North of England finals.
Two badminton players from the school, Mike Horner and Adel Gregson, have already been selected to play for Yorkshire this season.
The school is also celebrating the success of three cross-country runners who have been selected to run for the area at the county trials in January at Tadcaster School. Vicki Smith came fourth in the trials for year 7 girls category, while Liam Rabjohn was fifth and Finn Sheehan came sixth in the intermediate boys age group.
