POLICE have issued a warning after yobs hurled an object off a footbridge onto a car below.

The rear windscreen of a car was shattered during the incident on Sunday (Dec 15) on the A692 Rotary Way, in Consett.

Luckily, no-one was injured during the incident and, although few details have been released, police are keen to trace the person or persons responsible.

Sgt Chris Davis of Consett Police, said: "This type of incident carried out without thought or as a prank could have life changing consequences, for both perpetrator and victim, and similar incidents across the country have resulted in fatalities.

"With such potentially serious consequences I cannot urge strongly enough to members of the public to please assist in identifying the persons responsible and reporting any information they have."
