CAROL SERVICE: The Darlington Town Mission will hold a carol service at Sainsbury’s, in Victoria Road, Darlington, on Thursday, December 19, at 2pm. Members of the public are invited to take part.

JAZZ CLUB: The Dougie Pugh Quartet which performs modern jazz will play at the Opus 4 Jazz Club, in the Traveller’s Rest, in Cockerton, on Friday, December 20. Doors open at 8pm, entry is £6. For more details contact the club on 01325-382676.

OAP PARTY: Students and staff at Longfield Academy of Sport, in Darlington, welcomed more than 180 local older people for the school’s annual senior citizens Christmas party. Guests enjoyed a Christmas lunch followed by musical entertainment provided by pupils and went home with a goody bag provided and decorated by Longfield pupils.

KEEP FIT: Age UK Darlington will hold a keep fit session aimed at older people at the Dolphin Centre, in Darlington, on Friday, December 20, between 2.40pm and 3.40pm. There will be a small entry fee.
