AN MP has visited a busy postal sorting office to encourage workers at their busiest time of year.

Roberta Blackman-Woods, Labour MP for Durham City, dropped in at the Royal Mail’s Durham delivery office to spread Christmas cheer and thank workers for their efforts.

The MP was shown round by deputy manager David Findlay and met postmen and women.

She said: “It was great to meet the dedicated, hard-working Royal Mail postmen and women at Durham delivery office to see first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people at this time of year.

“Postal workers do such an important job at this time of year and I would like to thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best over the busy festive period.”

The last recommended posting dates for Christmas are today (December 18) for second class items, Friday (December 20) for first class and Monday (December 23) for special delivery.
