STUDENTS are leaving bouquets of flowers around Durham to bring a smile to someone’s face this Christmas.

Floristry trainees from East Durham College based at the Houghall campus, near Durham City, are taking part in the British Florist Association’s (BFA) Lonely Christmas Bouquet campaign.

People who find the bouquets are asked to pass them on to someone who may be lonely at Christmas.

Lecturer Sue Lee said: “As soon as the BFA got in touch I knew it would be something the students would want to get involved with.

“The students have made some fantastic bouquets to place around Durham and hopefully people will take their time to stop and get involved.

“Christmas can be a lonely time for some people and if from just using up a small amount of our time we can bring a smile to someone’s face then it is all worth it.”

The bouquets have notes attached asking people to let the college know what they did with them.
