Darlington Magistrates' Court round-up

The following cases were heard by South Durham Magistrates sitting at Darlington Magistrates’ Court. All addresses are in Darlington.
DRINK DRIVING: Leeon Alexander Henry, 29, of Shelley Road, pleaded guilty to driving while above the alcohol limit – police recorded 78mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg. He was banned from driving for 17 months, fined £110 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
DISORDERLY CHARGE: Peter Liddle, 51, of Heritage Court, admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place after an altercation with a woman in the early hours of December 8 in Beaumont Street. Liddle, representing himself, claimed the woman – who he said was a stranger – had assaulted him and he was remonstrating with her when police arrived. Liddle was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge.
PUB AFFRAY: Alan Mitchell Scott, 35, of Shakespeare Road, pleaded guilty to a charge of affray. The court heard he was in a fight with another man outside a pub but, when the other man went back into the pub, Scott punched him to the floor and hit him with a bar stool. No mitigation was offered and magistrates committed the case to Teesside Crown Court for sentence, at a date to be fixed.
MOBILE PHONE: Daniel Keith Whitmore, 23, of Larchfield Street, admitted driving while using a mobile phone on Northgate. He had three points added to his licence, fined £37 and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
