AN evening of festive music will be held in a Durham church at the weekend.

The Durham Choral Society and the NASWT Riverside Band will join forces once again to get people into the Christmas spirit at the Elvet Methodist Church, Durham, at 7.30pm on Saturday December 21.

This event has become an annual fixture in the calendars of the choir and band, with a concert of traditional carols and brass band music and medleys of Christmas music.

The audience is encouraged to participate.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to two charities.

This year the choir have chosen Durham Action for Single Homeless and the Elvet Methodist Church chosen charity for December, The British Heart Foundation.

Tickets are £7 (£5 for concessions and £3.50 for the under 18s). They can be bought in advance at the Gala Theatre Box Office or online from www.wegottickets.com or on the door.
