AN MP has helped put food on the table for military veterans.
Kevan Jones, Labour MP for North Durham, made a donation to help pay for a Christmas dinner to be laid on for residents of St Peters Court, in Sacriston.
St Peters Court is a complex of 16 apartments for ex-service personnel, run by the charity Shaid.
Mr Jones, who visited St Peters Court to make his donation, said: “I am very pleased to be able to, in a small way, show my support for this excellent facility in my constituency.
“I have visited St Peters Court many times before and am always impressed by what goes on here, so I am more than happy to offer a donation to help them fund their celebrations on Christmas Day.”
