SENIOR citizens and primary school pupils enjoyed an afternoon of Christmas entertainment thanks to a group of students.

The Celebration of Teesdale Talent was organised by sixthformers at Teesdale School, Barnard Castle.

More than 40 OAPs enjoyed a variety performance, featuring singers, dancers and musicians.

The guests were also given a free lunch and Christmas card served by the sixthformers, while youngsters from from Bowes, Green Lane and Cotherstone primary schools were treated to an early visit from Santa.

Audience member Pat Robinson said she would definitely be coming along next year.

“It was very entertaining, and I’m certainly going to invite some more people next time round,” she said.

Fellow guest Kathleen Wardle added: “It’s lovely they’re holding this as it shows they don’t want the elderly community to be left out.

“It’s really nice to see what young people are doing nowadays.”

Entertainment included performances by popular young band Kerosene and the cast of the school’s production of West Side Story, which will be performed in February.
