RESIDENTS are being asked to be good neighbours during the winter weather to ensure that people are coping okay.

Durham County Council is asking people to think of others especially those who may be vulnerable.

The authority wants people to get in touch with people who are ill, old or who live on their own in case they need a helping hand.

Help keep drives and footpaths clear by shovelling snow for friends and neighbours if they struggle to do it themselves.

The council also wants residents to call on people living nearby who may need help to ensure that they are warm and that they have food and medicines.

What a great idea..Let the general public do the councils jobs now that the careconnect service has been hit with another million pounds took off the budget.
The visit and equipment checks by the front line personnel have been cut to once a year from four times, the staff made to go onto 12 hour shifts if they get the chance of a job and out the door to those who cannot do shifts..... great timing by DCC to have this hanging over the heads of the staff all over Christmas and dragging on into a not so happy new year......
