Dales wildlife website attracts thousands of visits

A WEBSITE dedicated to showcasing the flora and fauna of the Yorkshire Dales has attracted more than 12,000 visitors in the six months since it was launched.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Nature In The Dales site, which has been described as "a fantastic window on to one of the most beautiful corners of Britain", by environmental campaigner Prof David Bellamy, provides details about 150 of the species and 14 of the habitats found in the landscape, accompanied by 300 photos.

The website, natureinthedales.org.uk, also highlights the park's conservation schemes, a range of site to spot wildlife and ways in which people can get involved in looking after their natural environment.

A national park spokeswoman said: “In addition to the authority, 14 other organisations, a dozen local naturalists, academics and landowners provided articles and beautiful images.

"The result is a fantastic resource that is invaluable for anyone interested in wildlife in the Yorkshire Dales.”
