MORE than 200 riders are set to take part in the first cycling event of Yorkshire’s Tour de France Grand Départ year today (Wednesday, January 1). The Ripley Castle Cyclocross race, being run in the grounds of the historic country house near Ripon by Harrogate Nova Cycling Club, will feature both leading off-road riders and events for a range of ages and abilities. The grounds will be free to enter for spectators and racing will take place from 10.30am to 3pm.

FARM RAID: Burglars have stolen power washer, batteries and a Stihl saw, with a combined value of around £3,000, from a farm in Cawton, near Helmsley.
