BISHOP Auckland Theatre Society presents a pantomime for families this month.

The group will perform Sleeping Beauty, at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, on Thursday, January 9, at 7pm; Friday, January 10, at 7pm; and Saturday, January 11, at 2.30pm and 7pm.

FILM SCREENING: The Way, Way Back will be screened at The Witham, in Barnard Castle, on Thursday, January 9, at 7.30pm. Entry is £4.

CASTLE PLAYERS: The Castle Players are performing their version of The Hound of the Baskervilles, at Cotherstone village hall, on Sunday, from 3pm to 5pm. Entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. For tickets, call 07732-571416.

GROUP FUNDRAISING: The newly-formed Bishop Auckland Fundraising group of Marie Curie Cancer Care raised £660 during its first collection at Sainsbury's, in St Helen Auckland, last month. The group will be officially formed on Monday, during a celebratory event at Bishop Auckland’s fire station, at 1.30pm. Members of the public who would like to get involved are urged to attend the event.

GARDEN CLUB: The next meeting of Bishop Auckland Hospital’s garden club takes place in the hospital club, on Escomb Road, on Tuesday, at 8.15pm. Anyone is welcome to attend the free event.

FLORAL MEETING: The Shildon and District flower club meets on Monday, at the civic hall, at 7.30pm. Maeve Nattrass, from Darlington, will deliver a talk entitled From Top to Toe. Entry is free to members or £5 for visitors.
