A MOTHER and son turned shopping sleuths to find the whereabouts of 78 baubles hidden in and around a town centre as part of a festive promotion.
As a result of their eagle-eyed efforts, Alison and Steven Mounter received £100 of Barnard Castle Business Guild vouchers.
The guild teamed up with Barnard Castle Town Council for the 12 Days of Christmas competition.
Shoppers were asked to find baubles hidden in guild members' outlets depicting gifts from the Christmas song – everything from one partridge in a pear tree to 12 drummers drumming.
Alison and Steven, of Barnard Castle, received their prize from Barnard Castle mayor, Councillor Frank Harrison.
“Steven and Alison made a fantastic effort to find all the baubles and they can now put their detailed knowledge of Barney’s businesses to good use with some local shopping,” said Coun Harrison.
He added that the town council wished to thank all the guild members who supported the competition and all those who took part.
