Ryedale District Council is to reimburse all its direct debit customers who have incurred bank charges following an early payment of council tax instalments. An error occurred in relation to direct debit customers who pay their council tax instalments on the first day of the month. As New Year’s Day is a bank holiday, direct debit payments were due to be collected on January 2, but due to an administrative error they were collected from bank accounts on December 30. Any customers who have incurred bank charges as a direct result of this error should contact the council’s revenues and benefits services on 01653-600666 ext: 650 and advice will be given with regards to reimbursement.
