A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after colliding with a car during rush hour this morning (Tuesday, January 14).
A Durham Police spokesman said the 20-year-old man was involved in the accident on the A693 near Stanley, County Durham, at 8.25am.
The collision, which happened between High Handenhold and Beamish, caused severe traffic disruption.
The motorcyclist, who is believed to live locally, was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham suffering a fractured hand and possible foot injuries.
Police said the road was closed briefly to allow the recovery of the motorcyle.
