DURHAM Cathedral is running music classes for young children.

The Chimes groups encourage children to engage with music through rhythm and pitch games, songs and rhymes.

They are run by Clare Crimson, who teaches on the In Harmony Project at the Sage Gateshead.

Chimes I for children aged one to two is held in St Giles’ Church, Gilesgate, on Thursday mornings, Chimes II for children aged two to three-and-a-half takes place at St Oswald’s Institute, Church Street, on Friday mornings and Chimes III for children aged three-and-a-half to five is held at the Chorister School on Saturday mornings.

Classes cost £45 per child per term of ten sessions. Reductions are available for people receiving benefits.
